Is Widget Bucks a Scam

widget bucks is PPC (price per click) program.  I see people flaming widget bucks in forums as a scam.  This is not uncommon for new programs out there.  After all widget bucks just Started in early October. the first payments for widget bucks will be sent out mid December.  After those first checks are cut this will clam many of the people out there saying it is a scam.  I really can’t uderstand why someone would even say they aren’t a legit company.  After all they are the makers of Mpire.  It’s not like this company just came to be they have been in the market for several years.  Not only that would they really go throug hall the trouble of tracking my earnings and impresions every day.  Since the launch of the new widget bucks program thye have done extensive code modifications and updates.  This does not sound like a fly by night company but more like a company that wants to build a solid base.

Personally come mid December I will have a very nice pay check and really can’t wait.  It should pay for most of my Christmas shopping .

Widget Bucks referral Program Updates

Today widget bucks just made another update on their affiliate referral program. Before you just used to see how many affiliates you signed up. They give you a number and thats it. Now you actually get to see the earnings in action. This is a great new feature. Even those that do not have many referrals can still see the fruits of their labors. This should qualm many peoples fears out there that they were not going to get paid. Because WidgetBucks is still only a little over a month old no one has gotten a pay out yet. It will be nice once this company has a year under it’s belt. I am sure over the next few months many more improvements will be made to the widget bucks program overall.

Why so many don’t like widget bucks

So if you have done any research at all you will find many reason’s why so many people do not like widget bucks.  I will try and cover a few of the complaints here and give my take on them.

1.  widget bucks widget seems to load slow:  I’ve heard this from many different people.  The fact is yes when widget bucks was first launched it was a little slow.  When I first loaded it I noticed this as well.  Since then new code has been issued and my widgets now load in about a 1.2 seconds.  Still not ideal.  You want it to load right away.  It’s my hope that over the next few months widget bucks works on this a little more and gives us widget that loads a little faster.  Overall I feel the load times are exceptable for the sites I have it on.

2.  widget bucks has a low CTR:   for the people that have been saying this I have to ask what kind of site do you have it on?  All the sites I wass able to track back to comments were not product related sites.  Not one of them.  If you have a widget showing cell phones and other electronic devices on a social site about health care then of course you will have a low CTR no matter what kind of ad placement or traffic you have.  If the ads are not relavent to the content on the site then the readers will not be interested in your ads.  In those cases I would never put widget bucks on that site.  Use Adsense or a CPM program.  Kontera is another great one for text based ad links.

3.  My earnings are fluctuating before they are finalized:  As per the TOS when someone clicks on an ad you are given an estimated CPC.  Untill the CPC turns black it will fluctuate.  I have noticed around a 10% decrease from when my clicks are in red and when  they are in black.  I can say after all is said and done on the product based sites that I run widget bucks on I make around 1/3 more with widget bucks then adsense.  This is just my results and only after close to a month of tracking.

4.  Has anyone been paid yet?:  This question I see all over. The answer is NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!  I’m tired of seeing that question.  read the TOS.  You will be paid 45 days after the end of the first month you reach 50 dollars or more.  The program just launched in early OCT so know one will see a check until mid December. I can say I do not like waiting the 45 days but that is just because adsense pays after 30.  Most affilites don’t pa until 60-90 days.  I have many CJ products I sell and my sales always get extended and from the date of sale till I get my check is normally around 60-90 days.  Once you get going you will get a check each month so I really don’t see a big deal here.  I do like the payout is only 50 dollars.

All in all only you can decide if widget bucks is right for your site.  you can always make a small widget and throw it on a site to have a space filler or a little bit of graphics going. I would have to say that for the majority of sites out there widget bucks is currently not a good fit.  As the company grows they should have 100’s of more categories and products.  Once this happens it will become more and more popular.  Hope this helps a few of you out there.

Widget Bucks Hits over 30,000 Publishers.

widget bucks hits 30,000 publishers in just one month.  I think this shows the demand is there for another publisher of this kind in the market place.  Many people do not want to place all their eggs in one basket and widget bucks helps to diversify their accounts.  With over 200 million impresions in just the first month I think it’s safe to say WidgetBucks is here to stay.  Already widget bucks has added several categories new categories that publishers can choose from.  For my blogs this is great because now I can use the Widget for my puppy care site.  up coming categories include sports, fashion, teens and top brands.  Over the course of time widget bucks will have a much larger and wider category devision that publishers will be able to take advantage of.

When does Widget referral fees show up?

My Bucks also indicates when earnings and referral fees post to your account (first week of subsequent month) along with payment timing (roughly 45 days following the month your account balance reaches $50). Note that while My Bucks reflects referral fees, My Widgets will continue to show your total number of referrals. {Clicking here or on the image provided reveals a handsome screen shot.}

So your referral earnings will show up some time at the end of the week on the first month. I would not be surprised to see it show up a little late the first few months.

Widget Bucks October Earnings

widget bucks earnings are in for the month of October.  Having only joined half way through the month I did still easily make the 50 dollar pay off mark plus a few hundred extra to spare : ).  It’s nice having an adsense alternative.  Not that I will ever drop adsense but having all your eggs in one bascket is never a good thing.  Besides adsense and widget bucks I do use Amazon and other affiliate products through places like Commision junction.  I was able to bring in about 20% of my income from widget bucks.

With all that said I have a question to pose to the readers.  If you use widget bucks what kind of questions do you have?  I have a lot of marketing experience and would be glad to share any tips with you all.
